"Bridging the Gap between Real Estate and Technology"

Congratulations to City Center for being selected as our Feature Building this month!  City Center II and Chase Texas Tower are two premier buildings which dominate the skyline of Ft. Worth, Texas.  In addition to their striking presence, they are also one of the region's most technologically advanced properties.  This issue highlights some of the unique telecommunications amenities offered at this property and the benefits these features bring to the tenants.
Also, we are tracking the adoption of the 2002 NEC by city and state so you will know if your building falls under the new abandoned cabling regulations.  See CRE Resources, below, for more information.

Feature Building:
City Center, Fort Worth, Texas

City Center Development Co., the 1.5 million square foot office towers spanning six blocks of downtown Fort Worth, Texas, completed work on
an advanced fiber-optic network in March of last year.  This new network makes City Center one of the region’s most technologically advanced commercial properties.

City Center’s telecommunications infrastructure is one of just a few of its
kind in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and is designed to carry City Center’s technological capabilities 20 to 25 years into the future.  The new system

encompasses over 140 miles of new fiber optic lines and runs throughout the 38-story City Center Tower II and 33-story Chase Texas Tower.  The state-of-the-art system was installed by Southwestern Bell.

“This new central fiber distribution system is yet another first-class amenity for City Center tenants, giving them access -- at no cost -- to a fiber-optic distribution system as well as the most advanced broadband capabilities available today,” said Bud Smith, project manager for City Center Development Co. “We believe it will carry us many years into the future with the ability to accommodate the most sophisticated telecom services technology can provide.”  (Read FULL ARTICLE here)

Update:  NEC Rules on Abandoned Cabling

If you missed our article on abandoned cabling, read it HERE.  Many owners and managers are concerned about the new NEC regulations requiring removal of abandoned cabling from building risers and plenum spaces.  In response to this concern, CRE Partners is compiling a master list of cities, states and other municipalities with the status of whether the 2002 NEChas been adopted into local building codes.  To view the master list, visit our web site at http://www.crepartners.com/resources.html.
